13.2. Gravatars & the Author Bio on Your Site

Everyone likes to see who they are dealing with and in the more anonymous online world, it helps build your brand. Putting a face behind the name adds trust and credibility to your site(s) too. I, therefore, recommend you use a real photo of yourself and include it in an “author bio” after every post on your site. You should use the same photo when you leave comments on other websites, too.

The first step in achieving this is to sign up for a Gravatar:

When you get there, you’ll see a button to “Create your own Gravatar”. Click on that and follow the instructions. Gravatars are closely linked to an email address. When you leave a comment on another website, that website will check to see if the email address used in the comment has an associated Gravatar. If it is, that Gravatar image will be used with your comment.

Therefore, you need to enter the exact same email address that you’ve set up in your Wordpress Dashboard.
